Vivienne Westwood Red Label Uses Custom Minx and Tattoos: PHOTOS!

Vivienne Westwood Red Label Uses Custom Minx and Tattoos: PHOTOS!
The Vivienne Westwood Autumn- Winter 2012/13 Red Label collection was shown on Sunday 19th February 2012 in Goldsmiths Hall, London. This season the nails were custom made by Minx nails.
Following the success of last season’s show, Minx co-founders Janice Jordan and Dawn Lynch-Goodwin were requested to customize the Vivienne Westwood show nails for a second season.  “The nail brief was very specific with the key point being that the nail coatings were to look and feel  like the surface of a skateboard,” Janice explained.  “We had not created that texture before, but we experimented and developed that exact texture that we are calling the ‘Touch Me, Feel Me’ Minx.”
Minx again secured legendary nail stylist Marian Newman to guide the creative process and lead the nail stylist team backstage.  Due to the timing of the brief, the Minx designs were delivered a couple of days before the test for the show, which left very little time for any adaptations.  “The Minx coatings were just as the brief described:  rough, grey and abrasive, just like the surface of a skateboard,” said Marian.
Marian’s nail team was comprised of veteran nail stylist Monica Rohipoll, Kirsty Meakin and five nail technicians who secured their place on Marian’s team by winning a contest sponsored by Minx nails.  Laura Streeter, Laura White, Sarah Marr, Hollie Wakeham, and Samantha Yates experienced their first fashion week show at Vivienne Westwood, applying custom Minx and hand-applied tattoos to the fingers and toes of the models.
